Smart Parts Is Not Coming Back
Smart Parts has long been one of the leading paintball companies and it surprised many when it originally started with "corporate restructuring" earlier this year. Now, though, it appears they have filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. For those of you unfamiliar with bankruptcy, Chapter 11 is when a company tries to refinance and modify their debts and Chapter 7 is when a company is going to liquidate all of its assets. With this announcement, all of Smart Parts tools, equipment, patents and property will be auctioned or sold off. This means we will never see the old Smart Parts again. That doesn't mean, though, we won't see a similar Smart Parts-type company in the future. Another company could buy the assets of Smart Parts and use its patents and intellectual property to make the same or similar equipment. Or, the founders of Smart Parts could form a different paintball company and create new equipment. We'll just have to wait and see.Smart Parts Is Not Coming Back originally appeared on About.com Paintball on Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 at 22:14:00.Permalink | Comment | Email this paintball.about.com |

Bring Your Camera
I've had some pretty spectacular days of paintball ranging from days where I did extremely well to days where the group playing was just perfect to days where the weather was worthy of the cover of National Geographic. Unfortunately, many of these great days of paintball have kind of blurred together over time. But that's what I get because I never seem to be smart enough to remember the camera.I played one day on a home-built field in a mountain meadow. On the day I was there the mountain flowers were all blooming and so we literally had a field full of yellow and white waist-high flowers that made the scenery spectacular and smelled amazing as we crawled through them. Someone actually took a camera, but I don't have copies of the pictures, so it's almost as if it never happened. I've had other days where I've played great games with a friend before an illness made it impossible for him to play paintball any more, but I have no evidence of the adventure. My memories live on, but they definitely have faded with time. You'd think that someone who can remember to bring batteries, o-rings, spare parts, tools, extra masks, replacement ball detents and enough guns to equip a small army could just remember the camera. For some reason, I just haven't got that down even though it really should be high on my priority list.Bring Your Camera originally appeared on About.com Paintball on Monday, October 4th, 2010 at 18:34:04.Permalink | Comment | Email this paintball.about.com |
