Paintball Dentistry
Who knew that paintball could be improved by dentistry?I recently received some paintball gear to review from ANSgear.com and there was one item I really wasn't expecting - a set of dental picks. I've used small picks to work on paintball guns for years and they've done a pretty good job so I figured the dental picks would be more of the same. I was wrong - I had underestimated the usefulness of a dental pick.I guess dentists must know a thing or two about designing point pieces of metal because the usefulness of these picks astounded me. They are comfortable to hold, easily snatch onto things (especially o-rings) and are generally useful for all-around tinkering. I was also surprised at how sharp they are as I have drawn blood more than a few times while figuring them out.I suppose the best recommendation that I can give for dental picks is that they are the first new tool I've added to my paintball tool box in years. Try them out and see if they're useful for you.Paintball Dentistry originally appeared on About.com Paintball on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at 14:07:15.Permalink | Comment | Email this paintball.about.com |
Bring Your Camera
I've had some pretty spectacular days of paintball ranging from days where I did extremely well to days where the group playing was just perfect to days where the weather was worthy of the cover of National Geographic. Unfortunately, many of these great days of paintball have kind of blurred together over time. But that's what I get because I never seem to be smart enough to remember the camera.I played one day on a home-built field in a mountain meadow. On the day I was there the mountain flowers were all blooming and so we literally had a field full of yellow and white waist-high flowers that made the scenery spectacular and smelled amazing as we crawled through them. Someone actually took a camera, but I don't have copies of the pictures, so it's almost as if it never happened. I've had other days where I've played great games with a friend before an illness made it impossible for him to play paintball any more, but I have no evidence of the adventure. My memories live on, but they definitely have faded with time. You'd think that someone who can remember to bring batteries, o-rings, spare parts, tools, extra masks, replacement ball detents and enough guns to equip a small army could just remember the camera. For some reason, I just haven't got that down even though it really should be high on my priority list.Bring Your Camera originally appeared on About.com Paintball on Monday, October 4th, 2010 at 18:34:04.Permalink | Comment | Email this paintball.about.com |
